Sony Ericsson W880 is the newest addition to the Sony Ericsson Walkman line. Nothing uncommon here, we’ve seen lots of those. The most unusual thing about it though is its form factor - an ultra slim bar-shaped handset with plenty of cool features to offer. Take 3G network support, add a 2 megapixel camera, spice it up with a M2 memory card slot and Bluetooth and finally put it all in the slimmest shell possible and you will get a great result - the Sony Ericsson W880.

The W880i is the slimmest phone in the Walkman range, indeed its very nearly the slimmest phone full stop. Its no shrinking violet however, in fact, with its unusual design and violet orange trim its just about one of the most eye catching phones around. The W880i comes in two colour combinations called Silver steel and Flame Black. Silver steel is exactly as it sounds, a brushed metal front with a black backplate, metal buttons and just a hint of orange.

One cool feature of the W880i is the ability to blog. In a couple of easy steps you can take a photo, write a small snippet of text and publish it on the internet as a blog - all through the phone itself. You get your own free personal blog website with blogger.com when you purchase the W880i and it only takes a minute or two to publish. The W880i also includes a host of organiser features - calendar, tasks, notes, alarms, calculator, synchronisation, timer and stopwatch amongst them.

Sony Ericsson W880i Black Reviews from Cnet

The good
: The Sony Ericsson W880i has a slim, eye-catching design. It offers admirable call quality and a decent feature set including Bluetooth, a Walkman player, and a 2-megapixel camera. It has quite a long battery life as well.

The bad
: The Sony Ericsson W880i navigation controls and keypad buttons are tiny and difficult to use. Also, it lacks an FM radio, and the music quality was tinny.

The bottom line: The Sony Ericsson W880i is a decent multimedia cell phone but we couldn’t get past the poorly-designed controls.
