Samsung Glyde SCH-U940 (Verizon Wireless) Reviews
Verizon Wireless is going to announce Samsung Glyde SCH-U940 today, which is another slider phone with a horizontal QWERTY keyboard. The fashion Glyde do not support vcast TV though. It will be sold at $249 with a 2 years contract and after a $50 rebate. Check out the product photo shot here.Other than a full touch screen and QWERTY keyboard, Samsung Glyde also offers a 2 megapixel camera, bluetooth, full HTML browser, microSD card slot and a 240 x 440 pixel resolution display.
There’s a 2 megapixel camera with digital zoom, GPS, stereo Bluetooth, large 240×440 pixels screen, microSD memory card slot. Supported services include V CAST Music and Video, as well as VZ Navigator. Finally for the pricing, the Glyde costs $249 after a $50 rebate and with a two-year contract.
Samsung makes excellent phones with a wide variety of features and capabilities. Unfortunately, the Samsung Glyde needs a little work before we can recommend it heartily. The small size combined with a haptic touch screen and QWERTY keyboard is great, and the screen is easy to read despite the high resolution squeezed into a 2.8″ panel. But the touch factor itself is the problem, and it doesn’t work as well as we’d like– there’s too much lag, missed touches and occasional odd behavior that we haven’t experienced with the Voyager, LG Venus, LG Vu, iPhone or PDA phones.
Features
Full high-resolution touch screen that reacts in a tactile way in response to the touch of a finger
Built-in QWERTY keyboard to type messages with ease
Surf the web using the full HTML browser, even bookmarking favorite sites
Take pictures or video with the auto-focus 2.0-megapixel camera and camcorder
VCAST Video service to download and view video on this multimedia capable phone, and VCAST Music capable to download and play music, ringtones and more
Samsung Glyde SCH-U940 (Verizon Wireless) Reviews From pcmag
PROS:
Narrow body. Full Web browser. Good QWERTY keyboard.
Cons:
Somewhat quirky touch screen. No way to sync with PCs. Limited e-mail and IM.
Samsung Glyde SCH-U940 (Verizon Wireless) Reviews From cnet
The good: The Samsung Glyde offers great call quality, a broad selection of features, and a full alphabetic keyboard.
The bad: The Samsung Glyde’s display is too small to do its touch interface justice. Also, the photo quality is poor, and the e-mail support isn’t easy to use.
The Samsung Glyde is a powerful cell phone with decent performance, but its touch-screen design and controls don’t complement its features.
