Nokia’s N95 has come on in great strides since it was first released. When I saw an early review sample I was not overly impressed. The device itself felt plasticy in build, and the software was not as robust as it could be.Things have moved on, though, and Nokia re-released the N95 with 8GB of built-in memory and improved software. Oh, and the phone is black as opposed to the original N95’s rather grubby silver.This is a chunky phone, but there is an awful lot going on inside it. In terms of size you are looking at a device that’s 99mm tall, 53mm wide and 21mm thick. It has a slider format and, most unusually, there are two sliders.

The Nokia 6300 is one of the first slim handsets from the Finnish manufacturer. Nokia has so far seemed unfazed by some of its competition, where the race for the slimmest phone has been going on for the past year. With the 6300, Nokia seems to be finally addressing the growing slim handset market. Clad in a stainless steel body, the 6300 is armed with a 2MP camera and a 16 million color screen. The 6300 has both the looks and specifications to be a great handset.

Heavily influenced by classic Nokia design in areas of shape, colour and design, the Nokia 6230i is a very slender and compact handset at 10.3 x 4.4 x 2 cm and 99 g. Its centerpiece, a 65K colour TFT display, is placed far up on the front of the phone, offering crisp colours and a resolution of 208 x 208 pixels which causes text to render more smoothly than previous offerings from the handset maker.

A long time has passed since Nokia dared to introduce such an innovative design that users can admire when looking at the 7500 and 7900 Prism handsets. At a first glance, you might have the impression that there something wrong with the keypad, but the triangular form of the keys is quite comfortable, giving a stylish sensibility to the mobile phone. The unusual bar form of the Prism devices intends to twist people’s minds and conquer the market. A market where most buyers are trendsetters who change their mobile phones according to the fashion trend or simply by their look. Fewer and fewer people are trying to look beyond the design of a handset and choose what is good for them.
