Nokia N95 8 GB Reviews
The headline features of the eagerly-awaited Nokia N95 are mouth-wateringly amazing:
* Built-in GPS navigation
* 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss & Tessar optics
* Wi-Fi wireless internet connection
* 2.6 inch display with 16 million colours
* Ultra-fast HSDPA data transfer
The built-in 5-megapixel camera offers a range of features that in some cases surpass entry-level digital cameras, with integrated flash and range of modes, digital stereo microphone for video recordings, image editing and of course a secondary camera on the front for video-conferencing. Nokia promotes sharing of content with its video ‘Lifeblog’ support and if you find you’re eating into the 160MB of built-in memory too quickly you can plug in a microSD card to up the capacity.
The N95 features a built-in GPS receiver. It’s the same chip you can find in the Nokia E90. It’s quite sensitive and after obtaining fix it keeps working indoors and under heavy foliage, but it’s slightly less sensitive and also slightly less accurate than SiRF Star III based receivers. Besides the usual Landmarks and Position applications, the N95 also comes with Smart2Go software.
Menu operations, image processing, video recording and playback, 3D graphics in games (e.g. System Rush), web browsing - everything works very fast. Memory limitations are the same as of all the remaining S60 3rd Edition smartphones (except for the Nokia E90 Communicator), so if you have previously owned any other S60 3rd Edition phone then you can expect the N95 to offer you the same capabilities when it comes to number of programs you can run simultaneously or size of documents you can open.

The good: The Nokia N95 cell phone boasts a 5-megapixel camera that produces good-quality photos and videos. It comes with advanced multimedia capabilities and has a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Symbian smart phone also features integrated GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, and an innovative two-way slider design.
The bad: The N95 lacks support for U.S. 3G networks; standby battery life is poor; and performance is somewhat sluggish. The hardware feels a bit cheap, and the sliding mechanism could be more secure. It’s also very expensive.

On picking up the N95 for the first time, it is evident that this is a smartphone that has gone a diet compared to some of its predecessors. It is light in the hand and, as is typical of slider phones, has short stubby dimensions. The N95 manages to fall into the camp of phones that feel smaller than their dimensions suggest. Compared to both the N80 and N93, the N95 feels considerably smaller. It compares favourably with the Nokia N73 (it’s shorter, but slightly wider). There’s a large 2.6 inch screen which looks absolutely great, below this are the main control keys. First impressions are that these keys are well laid out and easy to use. The big S60 application key is particularly good. A quick push on the bottom of the device pushes the screen up to reveal the full keypad. Each row of keys is on its own ridge and there is good tactile feedback. They feel a little cramped after the large keypad on the N93, but are a big improvement over the N73’s and N80’s keypads.

It took me a while to decide to upgrade to the N95 because of all the bad reviews (at least 50%) But the phone looked too good to miss out on. I am glad I did but I have only had it 2 weeks & the only bad thing to happen is it froze once. I am also used to this type of phone. I like a bigger phone as I have large hands & I find this easy to use despite what some reviews say.
Not used all the gadgets yet. Screen is great & I can use it most of the time without reaching for my reading glasses. Camera & video is excellent. Never had a problem making or receiving calls reception good with or without Bluetooth hands-free. Not keen on sat nav, prefer A-Z but nice to have it on the phone but you need to pay £47 for 3 year licence to enable it to talk to you, haven’t decided on this yet. Music player good but don’t use it too much.
Overall it has everything you need if you want a slim sleek phone it’s not for you otherwise GO GET IT.
