Those looking for Nokia’s 3555 candybar handset will now be able to get one from T-Mobile. This basic cell phone might not come with a wide range of bells and whistles, but it is said to support T-Mobile’s upcoming 3G network. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a front-mounted camera that is meant for video calls, so this could be a “modem-only” 3G phone instead. Other features include a rear-mounted digital camera, a microSD memory card slot, Bluetooth connectivity, and instant messaging support. It retails for a mere $150 a pop.

The T-Mobile Nokia 3555 also offers an attractive, if slightly reworked, flip phone design. The feature set is a something of a mishmash; though the phone offers a music player, stereo Bluetooth, and voice dialing, its camera has only VGA resolution. The 3555 is affordably priced at $149, but you can get it for as low as $49 with service.

Voice quality is OK but the screen is one of the worst on the market. It looks cheaper than the $20 prepaid phones on the market. The AT&T version of this phone has a much better display. I would not recommend this phone at all. If you are looking for a Nokia, 6133 is the best on T-Mobile.(6263 has a nice screen but very poor voice quality). I know the pressure to keep costs low but this phone is unacceptable.

The good: The Nokia 3555 has an attractive design and satisfying call performance. Its feature set includes voice dialing, stereo Bluetooth, and a music player.

The bad: The Nokia 3555 has dim, low-resolution displays. Also, it offers only a VGA camera.

The bottom line: The Nokia 3555 has a schizophrenic feature set and dim displays, but it’s not a bad buy as a midrange cell phone.
