LG Glimmer cell phone reviews
The LG AX830 Glimmer for Alltel is the latest entry in the exciting field of powerful touchscreen cell phones. The Glimmer features the sleek form factor of an LG Shine slider, but adds an exciting and attention-grabbing 2.8″ haptic touchscreen. The Glimmer combines the best of both worlds - an external touchscreen interface and a full, slide-out keypad. Add a music player, a 2.0-Megapixel camera with expandable memory slot, and GPS, and the LG Glimmer for Alltel is at the cutting edge.
The phone runs LG’s own OS and features cool haptic feedback with each screen press. There is a four panel menu - phone, media, tools, and set-up - and everything happens off of those menus. From the main screen you can pop into the menu, make a call, send a message, or view contacts. A quick menu allows you to easily add and remove applications or you can drill down through the menu system to get to your desired application.
Navigating the phone using the touch screen is a bit easier, but the screen is not nearly as responsive as the iPhone’s; I often found myself tapping it repeatedly to get the response I wanted. The screen offers the handy VibeTouch technology also found on LG’s Voyager; this sends you a slight vibration when you tap an item on the touch screen, so you know your selection has registered.

The good: The LG Glimmer is a stylish phone with a really smart concept, combining a touch-screen display plus a slider keypad. It has excellent features, including GPS navigation, EV-DO support, and a 2-megapixel camera.
The bad: The LG Glimmer offers a lackluster Web-browsing experience, and we thought the EV-DO connection could’ve been a lot smoother.
The bottom line: The LG Glimmer combines the glamour of a touch screen, the convenience of a slider keypad, plus high-end features to produce a top-notch phone for Alltel customers.

Pros: Cool design, nice looking touch-based interface. 2-megapixel camera. Stereo Bluetooth.
Cons: Won’t work in New York, Boston or Baltimore, among other cities. Heavy due to metal used in shell.
