lg_env2_vx9100.jpgThe LG enV(2) was a bit of a surprise to us when we first heard about it. We had initially thought the LG Voyager was the final successor to the high-end messaging phone line from LG and Verizon Wireless. (As you’ll recall, the original was the LG VX9800, which was succeeded by the LG enV VX9900, and then finally followed by the LG Voyager late last year). As it turns out, though, the LG enV(2) is the true successor to the LG enV franchise. The Voyager was more of a complete revamp–it sports a full touch-screen interface, V Cast Mobile TV, a full HTML browser, and more. By comparison, the enV(2) is a much more modest upgrade–sure it has a sleeker and slimmer appearance, but its features are virtually identical to the original enV.

Features
Though the enV(2)’s design is much improved, its feature set is almost identical to that of the original enV. We were let down by this, since we expected something a bit different. Starting with the basics, it has a 1,000-entry phone book with room in each entry for five numbers, two e-mail addresses, but no notes, which we thought was a little odd.

LG enV(2) Reviews from ubergizmo

The early reviews for the LG enV(2) aren’t so good. From what we heard, it is not much of an improvement compared to the enV, especially when it comes to software and functionality. I do like the outside look of this phone, but the bottom-line is: if you like the LG enV and would like a smaller version of that, the enV(2) might be for you. If not, look at the LG voyager or simply look elsewhere.

LG enV(2) Reviews From cnet

The good:
The LG enV(2) is a slim and attractive handset, with a roomy keypad, bright dual displays, a good multimedia feature set, a full QWERTY keyboard, plus great call quality.

The bad:
The LG enV(2) does not offer newer features from the first enV. Also, photo quality was mediocre, and the external display can be a bit too small. Streaming video quality could also be a lot better.

The bottom line:
The LG enV(2) is not much more than a slimmed dow
