Hello Mysto Review
Mysto Review
The Mysto is a slim slider, CDMA/EV-DO phone for Helio. It packs all typical for the carrier Internet features, 2-megapixel camera, QVGA display and GPS.
Helio’s UI and line-up of services, Mysto is based on the hugely successful overseas U600 model, which has enjoyed sales in the millions in the short time since release in Europe and Korea.”Mysto is a startling combination of beauty and brains,” said Sky Dayton, CEO of Helio. “We packed our best communications services and some amazing new GPS features into one of the thinnest sliders available. Mysto feels like a finely tuned machine in your hand.”
The Korea-version wiill have Korean-language keypads and documentation. The English version of the Mysto will be available to the public late January. However, the Helio stores in Santa Monica, CA, and New York City will have a limited supply of the English versions of the Mysto available on December 26. The Mysto’s current retail price is $149.
Helio powered by SK Telecom” division that caters directly to the Korean American market. A full-scale launch is planned for January, but we’ve been told that folks should be able to approach staffers at Helio’s New York and Santa Monica stores with a nudge nudge, wink wink starting December 26 and get hooked up for $149 (even though no Mystos will be on display). Good luck, shoppers!
Digitaltrends reviews The Mysto also includes support for TellMe and Where, two new GPS-enabled services. TellMe lets users execute searches using voice commands: just touch the TellMe button, speak your search terms, and the phone sends off your query, eliminating time entering search terms or figuring out your location. TellMe fetches local phone information, maps, and other local info, and can send the information to friends via SMS. (TellMe is a Microsoft subsidiary.) The new Where service from uLocate Communications, offers a collection of GPS-enabled widget applications which tap into local weather information and events listings based on a user’s location.
Summary-:
The good: The Helio Mysto has a really slim profile with a generous feature set that includes built-in GPS, EV-DO, a 2-megapixel camera, direct media uploads to Flickr and YouTube, a music player with access to Helio’s online music store, robust messaging options, a full HTML browser, and more. It also has a gorgeous 2.2-inch display.
The bad: The Helio Mysto has touch-sensitive navigation controls that are difficult to get used to, a flat keypad, and an ill-placed End/Power key. Its microSD card slot is inconveniently located behind the battery cover, and sound quality was average.
The bottom line: Though we weren’t keen on the Helio Mysto’s touchy controls and call quality, we were impressed with its healthy array of features.
Specs: Band / mode: CDMA2000 1X 1900/800; Talk time: Up to 210 min; Combined with: With digital camera / digital player
