Palm Treo 800w from Sprint gives me headaches. Instead of a regular launch with a nice press release and all that we keep hearing rumors about release dates and prices. The Palm Treo 800w was expected to hit the stores on July 13th and therefore it appears to be available online from Sprint now.We’ve heard about unofficial Treo Sales earlier this week from Sprint. The E250 is an entry-level slide phone and is one of the best phones in the entry-level price range. For less than 50 quid you get a cool-looking slide phone with a camera, music player, FM radio, Bluetooth and a memory card slot for storing loads of music. You can’t go wrong with this one.The E250 is Samsung’s first slide phone in the entry-level market, and it’s an impressive one. The LG Rumor is Sprint’s answer to those who want the convenience of a QWERTY keyboard without the complexity of a smartphone. A successor to the LG F9200 (which was for Cingular/AT&T last year), the Rumor is an attractive handset with a hidden slide-out QWERTY keyboard plus a few advanced features like a megapixel camera, a music player, and Sprint Navigation support. We really liked how easy it was to use, especially when sending text messages and e-mails. You can even access social networking sites like Facebook in just a couple of clicks. We wished the Rumor had EV-DO for faster Web surfing. (more…)

In the age of cell phones as fashion accessories, the demand for rugged, durable handsets has remained decidedly small. But even though they constitute a niche market, fans of burly models are particularly vocal. For much of its life Nextel has mastered this sector well, with Sanyo and Casio contributing the occasional CDMA handset. Thrill-seeking GSM users, however, haven’t been as fortunate. Though Nokia offered the Nokia 5100 and 5140 a while back, the selection of sturdy GSM handsets has remained limited. That is, until now. Asus P527 comes with a numeric keypad. This makes it easier to punch in phone numbers for dialing and even for keying in text compared to writing on the screen. It also eases in users switching over from regular mobile phones as most of those have numeric keypads as well.As mentioned earlier, the P527 will come with GPS for navigation. This utilizes the SiRFstar III chip, that we’ve generally had good experiences with in other devices like the Dopod U1000 and Mitac Mio A501.Like many other Windows Mobile PDA-phones, the P527 comes with quite a few wireless connectivity features. Granted, it’s doesn’t have HSDPA or 3G, but all others like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are available. A bonus is the inclusion of an FM tuner.

The LG enV(2) was a bit of a surprise to us when we first heard about it. We had initially thought the LG Voyager was the final successor to the high-end messaging phone line from LG and Verizon Wireless. (As you’ll recall, the original was the LG VX9800, which was succeeded by the LG enV VX9900, and then finally followed by the LG Voyager late last year). As it turns out, though, the LG enV(2) is the true successor to the LG enV franchise. The Voyager was more of a complete revamp–it sports a full touch-screen interface, V Cast Mobile TV, a full HTML browser, and more. By comparison, the enV(2) is a much more modest upgrade–sure it has a sleeker and slimmer appearance, but its features are virtually identical to the original enV. (more…)

The Pantech Breeze, a phone definitely focused on ease of use, but one that kicks things up a notch by incorporating a simple VGA camera, multimedia messaging, and even Bluetooth. Pantech and AT&T are marketing the Breeze as a phone ideal for the elderly as well as those with vision problems, but we think the Breeze is such a pleasure to use that it would be great for anyone who wants an excellent entry-level phone.
